My Nike Mini Contest Prize

2 weeks ago I mentioned that 3 lucky things happened. If you have missed it, here is the post: Lucky 1, 2, 3. Anyways in the post I mentioned that I knew that whenever I was too happy something bad will happen, and my karma theory is proven right yet again!! =( Since that post, my beloved Newcastle United lost 2 matches in a row and got relegated to the Coca Cola Championship. The stock I sold, went up like crazy after I sold it due to a takeover by another company, I could have sold it for 1k plus dollars more if I waited for 1 more week sian. Oh well, at least one of the lucky things that happened is not reversible, my Nike Mini Contest win. =)

We were supposed to start jogging this week, but we changed it to next week as they are not free, hope they don't pang seh me. Actually, I have already passed the shoes to one of my jogging mates, Jasmine!! Maybe she take already then don't jog with me ha ha. Like I mentioned in the image I used for the Nike Mini contest, I really need to jog and lose lots of weight before the graduation ceremony! I'm too lazy to jog alone, so I hope my jogging mates will give me motivation to jog on a regular basis. I already bought my jogging shoes, hope it does not collect dust.

I love playing games and played lots of Maple Story in the past, so I decided to go to the fair to take a look. Knowing that the event was going to have cosplayers gave me extra motivation to go there heh. So on Saturday, I forced my group mates who were going to do our group project in my house to stopover there before heading to my house. I was excited, I wanted to take many photos of cosplayers and post it here, but at the end of the day, I can only post one photo lol. Notice that the title of this post is "Licence 2 Play Cosplay Pic and Videos" and not Cosplay Pics ha ha. If you were expecting to see lots of pictures here, pai sei .... tricked ya!

Anyway here is the only clear picture I have out of the 5 pictures I took lol ... but there is a boy blocking the girl .... I must be the lousiest photographer ever!

Reason (ahem excuse) for only having one picture:
When we reached the License 2 Play fair, it seems like most of the cosplayers were having a break. Though there were still quite a few of them around I felt a little pai sei to take their pictures as the other guys taking seemed so pro with their big ass DSLR cameras. I only had a normal digital camera which I borrowed from Shawn and was a little reluctant while being surrounded by professional looking photographers lol. You know it's something like going to a gun fight with a sword or driving a shitty car in a car race against super cars. It's not like I'm Takumi from Initial D.

The cosplayers probably prefer to pose for those carrying the pro looking cameras anyway as they will look better in the photos (you spend so much on your camera, sure at least have some standard right he he) and maybe some of the photographers are from the media heh. So at the end, I only took 5 pictures, all of them taken without the presence of pro photographers. It was at an Asiasoft event where most of the people around were kids.

Newcastle United has been relegated

I guess I will be drinking lots of Coca Cola next season ... Newcastle United has been relegated to the Coca Cola Championship =( After all the bo liao stuff I did, I thought we might actually pull off the great escape. Manchester United and Chelsea both did their jobs but it was not enough. We can't even get a draw, the players don't seem like they are fighting for their lives. We got relegated because of a deflected own goal. This just sums up a very unfortunate season. 4 managers in a season and tons of injuries ..... stuff like that only happens to us.

I guess Newcastle United is just not good enough this season. Maybe going down is a good thing. Since Mike Ashley took over, we were getting worse everyday. Maybe being relegated will force him to sell the club, then we can start all over again with players who are loyal to the club. I hope a good owner buys the club and bring us back to the premier league. I hope Alan Shearer will remain at the club and manage Newcastle United for a long long time.

Got to surf around for some Coca Cola Championship websites to view next season ..... I wonder if Starhub shows matches in the Championship .....

Biggest Match of My Life

When Newcastle beat Middlesbrough on the 11th of May 2009, I thought that we had a high chance of survival, but I was wrong. In typical Newcastle fashion, we lost to Fulham last week and now we are back to square one. Now once again we have to try our best to win our game (away to Aston Villa) and hope that either Manchester United or Chelsea wins their matches against Hull city and Sunderland respectively. We could draw today and still survive if results go our way but a win would be a safer bet although we might still go down if both Sunderland and Hull City win their matches =( It is now the Biggest Match of My Life Part 2: The Final Battle ..... of the season.

Before Newcastle United faced Middlesbrough, I did some superstitious bo liao things to try to help Newcastle United win. It sort of worked and they won (okay their win is due more to their fighting spirit). I hope by repeating the actions, it would boost Newcastle’s chance of surviving.

Yes, my Newcastle United banner will still be there and I will be wearing my Newcastle Jersey with red underwear. I will not be drinking coca cola for a day too.

This time, I have asked not one but two friends (Man u and Bolton fan) to wear the nufc jersey for extra luck!

Kimi will be wearing her red bull doggy t-shirt so that we will have wings to fly out of the relegation zone.I will be eating the same snack but now strawberry flavour and drinking some shiokfullnezz Baileys.I have also once again used my magnets to predict the score line. This time I use it to predict 2 matches. I almost got the exact score line last time, will I be even closer this week?

Please please please, please survive. Players of Newcastle United, it’s the last match of the season, gather all your fighting spirit you have left behind in previous matches this season and go for a win! Manchester United and Chelsea, I will be supporting you today too (just this once). I know Manchester United will be putting out their reserve team but who can blame them, but I think because of the depth of their squad, their reserve team is actually better than some of the teams at the bottom! Macheda will score! Chelsea, I know you can win Sunderland easily, go out there and do your job! Drogba, I know you like to dive, please continue doing it in the penalty box later (but not against nufc in the future k) =)

If Newcastle United survives, I will get my first ever tattoo of either the Newcastle United emblem or the words “NUFC FOR LIFE” !! I swear!

My Tampines 1 magic bean

Yesterday, I went to the very nice and green Tampines 1 for dinner and some shopping with my mom. We bought a polo tee and shirt for my father's birthday and went to eat at Manpuku Japanese Gourmet Town which is some sort of a Japanese Marche. Same style but all Japanese food with Japanese song playing in the background. I love the place! My mother ordered the Moonlight Special Okos and I ordered the Mochi Cheese Okos.Both are damn shiok .. will go there again next time to try out other food. (Sorry for the blur pics from my iPhone which doesn't do the food any justice he he)

After eating I also bought myself a ps3 game "UFC Undisputed 2009". I played the game for awhile today and so far it seems like a good game. Will try the career mode later. For people who like mixed martial arts (which is unlike your fake wwe wrestling) I think you will like this game.

So total amount we spent was around $200 which entitled us to get a free Uniqlo bag and one magic bean!

American Idol :Who will be the next American Idol?

After 38 episodes of American Idol and lots of predictions by me (some right some wrong), we are left with the 2 most popular contestants. In the words of Ryan Seacrest, we have the acoustic rocker versus the glam rocker, Conway versus California, the guy next door versus the guy liner (lol). It now comes down to Kris Allen and Adam Lambert. 2 opposites with their own unique appeal. Who will win this season’s American Idol? This is …. My final prediction of the season.

Adam and Kris each sang 3 songs, one favorite of the season, one chosen by Simon Fuller and one new song co-written by Kara DioGuardi. I felt that both contestants did very well in their first 2 songs but struggled with “No Boundaries” the song Kara co-written. So performance wise I feel that it is a draw. I’m surprised how Kris upped his game and gave his best performances of the season. This season is definitely a close one. Who do I think will win?

As usual let us see the iTunes Review Rankings (which is sometimes accurate heh)

Oh my god! For the first time ever, Adam Lambert does not have the highest number of ratings. Kris Allen has so much more ratings this time round. Maybe fans of the ousted idols have all decided to support Kris Allen. Adam Lambert now has only his own fans to count on. Will this reflect the number of supporters Adam and Kris have? If it does, Adam is in deep trouble. I’m not sure if its real, but last week, only 1 million votes separated these 2 guys. Kris Allen has turned from a dark horse to a legitimate contender for the top prize. I have predicted against Kris Allen for the past 2 weeks and have been proven wrong. What should I do now?

I know! I should predict that Kris Allen will win and my unlucky streak in predictions will make Adam the winner he he. If Kris Allen wins my prediction is correct, if Adam Lambert wins I will be happy cause I like him better lol. Both ways I win! Woo hooo.

Okay, final prediction: Kris Allen to win American Idol!

After tomorrow's results, I will be eagerly waiting for the start of the third season of our very own Singapore Idol!! This time, I can actually vote for my favorites!

P.S: What a stupid final prediction by me. I should be ashamed of myself. Go Adam Lambert!

If you are taller, you earn more

I'm feeling quite sad right now because of this article ....

RESEARCH has proved size does matter - at least when it comes to pay.

An extra 5cm in height can add about $950 to the average man's salary, Australian National University researchers have found. ANU economist Professor Andrew Leigh said the wage gain from the extra height was equivalent to the reward for another year of labour market experience.

"We found that taller people earn more, with the effect being strongest for men," Professor Leigh said.

"The average man in our sample is five feet 10 inches tall (177cm).

"Our estimates suggest that if he was six feet tall (182cm) he would earn another 1.5 per cent, or around $950, per year."

Oh man, I guess I have to expect to earn less in the future due to me being vertically challenged. Why do they have to do this kind of survey? It must be someone tall who wanted to do this to prove that they being tall means being more "superior" to us short farts. All my life I have been teased at for being short (yes even now) and now because of a survey like this, I'm ensured a lifetime of discrimination. I wonder what my employers will say when I apply for a job in the future.

"Hey Sean, since you are short I would expect you not to request for a high pay." ...... "It's not my fault that I look down (pun intended) on short people, it's the norm, just look at this survey."

I will just have to start with a disadvantage in the future and try to prove that I can be better than the taller guys. Hopefully I will end up earning more than the taller guys in the office in the future he he. We short people will prove to the world that we are more hardworking and capable than the tall guys! (I will give you and update after I have worked for 5 years lol)

The article also mentioned that being fat doesn't necessarily mean lower pay, so at least that is good news for me. I am currently short and fat, the worse combination ever! Not sure if the fat survey results applies to Singapore as well but I'm not taking any chances. Next week will be the start of my weekly jogging session (I swear!) and hopefully I will lose a lot of weight before my job interview after graduation.

At least if you are fat you can do something about it by exercising and eating healthily which will also be good for your body. If you are not so good looking, you can go for plastic surgery. However I don't think you can do anything about your height right? Unless I go for a leg extension in China which I don't think is a safe thing to do. I have tried many things to make myself taller throughout my life, but none have worked, so I'm stuck at this height heh. By the way, the height and pay effect isn't that much for the girls. Life is unfair haiz.

I think the phrase "Look Down on You" was probably created by some tall dude to mock short guys.

P.S: The shorter Kris Allen will take on tall Adam Lambert in the American Idol Finals. Will Kris Allen show that short guys can win the tall ones? But I'm rooting for Adam Lambert ..... hmmmmm

Fighting Spiders: Episodes available for those who missed them

About Fighting Spiders

Around 5 weeks and 5 episodes later, I'm still watching Fighting Spiders. What does that mean? It means that it's a great show! If it's not good I won't be eagerly waiting for the show to start every Tuesday. I think fighting Spiders is by far the best local channel 5 drama I have ever seen!

The only episode I missed was episode 4 last Tuesday due to some appointment and I was pretty sad about not being able to see it. I do not have a hubstation or any video recording device (even my old video tape recorder also spoil liao) :( , I might plan to get a hubstation in the future though when I start working. I think I really need it then as some of the timings of the shows I watch on tv might clash with work.

As first, I was disappointed at not being able to watch the episode (I tried searching it on Youtube last time but only could find episode 1 ... Buuuuutttt after someone responded to my forum post about episodes online and a mr or miss anonymous posted a comment on my previous Fighting Spiders Post about where I can find the episodes, I finally got to watch episode 4! Now its my turn to share with anyone reading this post on where you can find the episodes. There are two sources that I know of now.

What other shows can you hear people saying Neh neh poks and ku ku birds? Seriously guys, for those who don't watch local english dramas you should try watching this. I have watched lots of ang moh and Japanese dramas and some Korean Dramas. I think Fighting Spiders has entertained me as much as my favorite foreign dramas. The local flavor also makes the show close to my heart.

American Idol Predictions: Who will be out in the top 4

I got it wrong last week. I'm shocked that Allison got out, American Idol seems less lively without her. Why Allison why??

Being handicapped without the iTunes Review Rankings made my predictions less accurate heh. Fortunately for me, this week the amount of ratings and reviews can be seen and hopefully the numbers reflect the positions (like most weeks) of the 3 musketeers left, which will make my predictions more accurate.

One think for sure, without any help for the iTunes Review Rankings, anyone can predict that Adam Lambert will be in the finals with another round of outstanding performances. Simon predicted that Adam Lambert will win American Idol on Oprah! I think he totally outclassed Danny Gokey and Kris Allen and most of the previous contestants of past seasons. His range is just amazing. Although I must say all 3 of them gave great performances.

Okay, without further ado, let us see last week's iTunes Review Rankings so that I can predict who will join Adam Lambert.

Adam's amount of ratings shows just how popular he is. These high numbers have been consistent throughout the season. As for Danny and Kris, they have been up and down almost every week. So despite Danny's horrible last note last week, he is still higher than Kris Allen. Maybe most of them are bad ratings ha ha. He has an average of only 3 stars. Duet wise Danny and Kris share the same numbers because they sang together (duh). I think Simon is worried that Adam's fans will get complacent and not vote as much so he reminded them to vote heh. This will surely ensure Adam's safety. As for the fate of Danny Gokey and Kris Allen, both gave great performances, but I guess I will just follow the the rankings and predict that .....

Kris Allen will go home (sorry girls again)

He is the best looking out of the 3 I know, but I think he is the weakest vocally. As what the judges say, this is a singing competition after all. I'm sure all 3 will go on to make their own albums though.

I predicted that he will go home last week and was wrong :( Maybe he will prove me wrong again but I will stick to my prediction. Let's see if I'm right later.

Lucky 1, 2 and 3 Newcastle, Stock, Nike Mini Contest

The past 2 days have been kind to me. 3 lucky things happened during the 2 days and I'm feeling rather happy now. I guess this kinda makes up for the mediocre past few months I have been going through.

Lucky Number 1:

Newcastle finally won a match and score some goals!

Yesterday I had this post about preparing for the biggest match of my life. I think my jersey and red underwear wearing, getting my dog kimi to wear her jersey and forcing my friend Alvin to wear a Newcastle United Jersey has played a small part in Newcastle United winning their first match in like 10 games? He he. The players really played very well yesterday, never giving up even when they were 1 goal down so early in match. Newcastle United showed great fighting spirit and eventually won 3-1 (I predicted 3-0 =D)! Kudos to all the players involved, the fans at St James' Park for their superb support (the flags waived around the whole stadium is spectacular!) and of course the one and only Alan Shearer and his management team. Its been a long time since I've seen Shearer so happy. The cheers for him during and after the match made my hair stand.

The 3 nufc scorers of the night: Steven Taylor, Obafemi Martins and Peter Lovenkrands!

Newcastle United is finally out of the bottom 3! With 2 games left, their fate is finally on their own hands. I hope they can repeat the performance and win again this Saturday at home against Fulham!

Lucky Number 2:

Finally managed to sell off my stock.

I shall not say what stock it is, but those who are familiar with this chart would know heh. I bought this particular stock on October thinking that it was cheap then, and right after I bought it, it fell like no tomorrow (together with many other counters lol). Luckily for me, it recently went back up to slightly less than the price I bought it for and being the hum ji (cowardly) guy, and constant persuasion of my father (he keep asking me to sell for the past few weeks and it kept going up he he), I decided to sell it off. The dividends earned during the period I had the stock can cover the transaction fees. Will invest wisely in the future and not have the gambling mentality when I start working after graduation. The way I played last time was something like once my friend Caleb said in the past about some "investors" ... playing Da Xiao lol.

Lucky for us, Hull City lost on Saturday. Newcastle United will now take on Middlesbrough in around 4 hours time. The winner of this match will have a high chance of surviving this season and not be relegate into the Coca Cola Championship. I will be watching it live with Alvin and will not miss a second of the action even if I have to pee or something. Please Newcastle! Please win today!

I have been supporting Newcastle for the past 15 years and this is by far the most important match of my life. We used to be challenging for the top spot and playing in the Champion's League but now we have to fight for our lives.

I really hope Owen Matins and Viduka are on form today and the midfielders will supply them with tons of chances. The defence has no hope so attack is the best form of defence! Alan Shearer has to give them the motivational speech of their lives. Go Newcastle! Show your fighting spirit. Let's thrash boro (okay a 1-0 will be fine too)!!
