Singapore's very own Wonder Girls dancing the Nobody dance

Some time ago I posted many videos of Korean girl band Wonder Girls singing different versions of the song Nobody. If you have not heard of this song or watch the videos before, you might wanna check it out.

I want nobody nobody but chooo
More nobody but choo madness

Anyways, recently Butter Factory got Singapore's very own Wondergirls to perform the song at the club! Check it out!
Some of them looks quite chio but its quite dark so I'm not sure if they are really chio he he.

P.S: I added Ahn Sohee, my favourite girl from the Wondergirls on Facebook and she approved! Not sure if she is the real Ahn sohee though lol. Here is the link: Ahn Sohee

American Idol Predictions: Who will be out in the top 5

Now that there are only 5 contestants left in the competition and all 5 of them performed well last night, it will be harrrrrrrd to predict anything base on the performance. So this week, I will just base my prediction solely on the iTunes Review Ranking. Simon predicted that Allison Iraheta might be in trouble tonight. Will he be right? Or will the iTunes Review Ranking be as spot on as last week (damn should have predicted base on that last week).

Here is your iTunes Review Ranking based on last week's performance ....

1) (1) Adam Lambert - 1428 ratings / 326 review (avg 4.5 stars)
2) (2) Kris Allen - 1240 rating / 348 reviews (avg 4.5 stars)
3) (3) Allison Iraheta - 602 ratings / 211 reviews (avg 4.5 stars)
4) (5) Danny Gokey - 428 ratings / 128 reviews (avg 4.5 stars)
5) (4) Matt Giraud - 267 ratings / 82 reviews (avg 4 stars)

Adam Lambert must be feeeeeeeeeeeeeeeliiiinnnnggg good right now. He has been ranked number 1 in the iTunes REview Ranking for like forever! His has been consistently performing brilliantly every week which really justifies his top ranking every week. I have never seen any idol contestant perform so well every single week before. I've said before and I will say it again. He will win this season's American Idol for sure heh, the finals will be the easiest to predict. So it's a fight between the rest of the 4 contestants to join him in the finals. At the moment Kris Allen seems to be the favourite to join Adam Lambert in the finals.

One of the 4 potential runner-up to American Idol will be going home later tonight, and the contestant I predict will be Matt Giraud. This prediction is based on my usually reliable iTunes Review Ranking. Sorry Matt Giraud and fans.

Will the ranking system once again proof to be an accurate indicator?

Don't ever call China Women Xiao Jie!!

Saw an article on The New Paper about how its wrong to call a China woman xiao jie, cause it means you are calling her a prostitute! Oh man, didn't know about that! I think I whenever a order food from a China woman (they are everywhere!) the food court, canteen and talk to shop assistants etc etc I also call them xiao jie. I'm so sorry girls I didn't mean to insult you.
Are You Calling Me a Prostitute?
Woman splashes water on at salesman for using 'uncouth' term

IN Singapore, it is not uncommon to hear someone address a female stranger as 'xiao jie' (miss in Mandarin).

UPSET: Miss Wang (above) claims the salesman called her 'xiao jie' at least five times in a mocking tone. PICTURE: SHIN MIN DAILY NEWS

That was how one salesman addressed a woman who walked by his shop.

But that was also what got him into hot water with the woman, a Chinese national.

Why?

In China, the term 'xiao jie' is often used to mean 'prostitute'. It is seen as disrespectful to address a woman as 'xiao jie' there. (See report below.)

The incident took place last Tuesday at a handphone shop in People's Park Complex.

Around 4.30pm that day, a 26-year-old Chinese national who gave her name only as Miss Wang was walking past the shop with her friend, Miss Zhou, also 26.

One of the salesmen in the shop, who wanted to be known only as Ah Siang, told The New Paper that he called out 'da jie' (older sister in Mandarin) to the two women.

'I wanted to get their attention so they could take a look at the handphones in the shop,' the 19-year-old Malaysian said.

'One of the women then nudged the other and told her I had just called her 'da jie'. She also asked her friend if she looked very old.'

Thinking that he may have been rude to call the women 'da jie', Ah Siang then addressed them as 'xiao jie'.

But that did not sit well with Miss Wang, who took offence at being called 'xiao jie'.
Full story at The Electronic New Paper

Watch the video from RAZORTV for more about this.

Finished watching the video? Now you like me know more he he. Cannot use the word Da Bao also!! It means putting a dead body into a coffin!!! Wa, i wonder how many times I asked a xiao jie to da bao food for me sia.

Here are other terms you should take note of when you are addressing a person from China. (From The New Paper)
Instead of Xiao Jie you can use Gu Niang or Xiao Gu Niang
You can address waitresses as Fu Wa yuan or in Guangzhou you can use Cantonese terms like Leng Lui (pretty girl), Leng Zai (handsome guy)
Instead of calling a maid Nu Yong, you should call her Ah Yee (aunty)
Lastly, Use Shi Fu instead of Shi Ji when you are addressing a bus driver.

Now you know!

P.S: There is one place in Singapore where it is okay to call China women Xiao jie though =P

Jackie also said Singaporeans have no Self-respect

Ooops, Jackie Chan did it again! I didn't realize that in the same speech about Chinese needing to be controlled he also mentioned some bad things about Singapore. I read it from the Newpaper on Saturday but did not have to time to blog about it.

For those who have not read the news, here is the news from Asiaone:
Jackie Chan: Singaporeans have no self-respect

Action star Jackie Chan did not only offend the Chinese living in Hong Kong and Taiwan, his "speech of freedom" that drew widespread ire recently also spoke badly about Singaporeans.

He had apparently said that Singaporeans have no sense of self-respect.

Chan, who spoke last Saturday at the Boao Forum for Asia, said that the Chinese have to be controlled or society would be "chaotic" like that of Taiwan and Hong Kong.

Local Chinese evening daily Shin Min Daily News reported that in the action star's speech, Singaporeans too, were not spared.

During the forum's question and answer session, Chan said in his reply to a question from the media, "When I go to Singapore, I realize that chewing gum is not allowed there. Why is this so?

"I found out later that if (Singaporeans) chew gum, they will dispose of the used gum on tabletops, on chairs, and (they) have no sense of self-respect."

According to the Shin Min report, he also pointed out that unlike the Americans and the Japanese, "they" do not have that sense of self-respect. And when this is lacking, the government will have to step in.

Wha, this Jackie Chan is a funny man, anyhow talk cock. This is what happens when someone has too much money. They just say whatever they want without thinking. I agree that Singaporeans do dispose the used gum in tabletops, chairs, on dustbins, benches etc etc in the past (not me though =P), but isn't it the same with other countries? Just watch your American tv shows and you will see how they stick their gums under the table, sofa, on trees, people's hair ... you watch soccer matches on tv also can see the managers spitting the gum on the floor.

If you want a video of the former president of the United States George Bush spitting I have one ... here you go

You can watch the whole video if you miss him, but for spitting action, go to 2:00. Not sure its spitting gum or other disgusting stuff, but a spit is a spit =)

If you continue reading the whole article at Asiaone's website, you will realise that he also mentioned that when you are caught littering in Singapore, you will be jailed straight away. Wahahah that's so funny and it proves my point in the previous Jackie Chan post that you can't judge a country without staying there for a few years at least. Listening to others or watching TV may not be the right source of info. I thought if I get caught littering I only get a fine and maybe do community work order? Last time at least first offence got chance, can go watch some brainwash video about littering than go home (my fren kenna lol). If really go jail i think Changi Prison will be overloaded with prisoners. But anyway the fine is already a harsh punishment as compared to other countries, but that's a different story which have been made fun of by foreigners and even us with the "Singapore is a Fine City" T-shirts for many many years.

Jackie Chan has too much money and have nothing better to do than complain about others. Good luck sucking up to the Americans, hope you have a new Hollywood movie where they pay you millions again.

Deadliest Warrior: Ninja vs Spartan

About the Show
All Deadliest Warrior Posts

This week on deadliest warrior, we have the ninja versus the spartan. Who will win?

Will it be the ninja with his stealth, speed, agility, techniques and sneaky weapons?

Or will it be the spartan with his great strength, armor and that incredible offensive/defensive shield?

You have seen ninjas and Spartans in various movies, anime/cartoon and games. Will the ninjas be like Ryu Hayabusa from Ninja Gaiden or Naruto? Or will they be like the little kids in the movie 3 Ninjas to the spartan? The spartans look really powerful in the movie 300. 300 of them killing hundred thousand persians! I wonder who will win if there is an episode with the spartan versus the persian? Ha ha. Ninjas should be better than the persians though.

To find out who won. Go to Spike's website.
Link - Deadliest Warrioir: Spartan vs Ninja

Better watch it ASAP! The website only shows current episodes of the show so this episode will expire next Wednesday, to make way for The Pirate versus The Knight!! Will the pirate have a gun? That would be really unfair sia.

Maybe Jackie Chan is right ... Chinese Need to be Controlled?

As my grandfather is from Taiwan, my father seems to be influenced by his roots and watches the Taiwanese news and talk shows on a regular basis. Sometimes I would join him in his daily Taiwanese "entertainment". It's quite amusing to see the talk shows where the host and his guests spends the whole 2 hours of the show scolding every tom dick and harry and sometimes also disagreeing with each other especially when members of ruling (KMT) and opposition (DDP) parties are on the same show. Fight, fight fight!

Before I continue, I would like to say, I'm just an ignorant fool and the things I'm saying are just random ramblings about the entertaining Taiwanese talk shows. Not trying to be an expert in any way. My knowledge of Taiwan is all from the Taiwanese shows I watch on TV. Something like the pro-Tibet supporters at this link, who don't have a clue why they are protesting. Unless you have stayed in a particular country for a few years, you can't really know for sure what you see on TV, newspaper or the internet is true. The bottom line is, you don't have to take me seriously.

Anyways, those who have not watched these talk shows should watch them once in a while. I think ratings are high that's why more of these shows are popping up on TVBS and CTI, 2 of the channels my father and I watch. Who wouldn't like seeing people scolding other people? You have some shows in the afternoon, evening and night. The one I watch most is a show called "2100全民開講".

At first there was the former president Chen Shui Bian (陳水扁)'s corruption case...

It's fun to see all the different tactics he and his family members are trying to get themselves out of trouble, how his spies are assisting them and the current government not doing anything to the spies despite all the scolding on the talk shows. I think Chen Shui Bian's case was the catalyst for the sudden popularity of these talk shows. To produce a show with high viewership, just get a few "ming zuis (名嘴)" (which literally means famous mouth) on the show and start scolding Chen Shui Bian and family, some shows also allows the public to call in to scold him ha ha. I think these "famous mouths" must thank Chen Shui Bian for the problems he has caused. Without his huge amount of corruption cases and antics, they will not so much things to discuss about and will have less jobs. Some of these "famous mouths" appear on 2 shows a day and according to my father, they get around S$200 to S$300 per show, which means they can get freaking $600 a day for sitting down and scolding people! Let's say they work 5 days a week (although I noticed some work on weekends too). 5 days x 4 weeks x $600 per day equals to a cool $12,000 a month!!

Actually we from Singapore have to thank Chen Shui Bian too. His first detention number (2630) came out rumbled (6230) as the second prize in 4D a day after he received that number!! My father wanted to buy the 24 combinations, but it was sold out! I guess lots of people strike 4d that day. My father also bought the second detention number (2185) but he did not strike ha ha. I think the next hot 4D number is his prison number =). Anyways, his case is related to many other cases, and more recently the talk shows are talking about the corruption in Taiwan's military which involves army personnel bribing for promotion. There so many new generals recently that the general to soldier ratio is 2:1000 (highest in the world). That is even higher than USA and Israel! Pay $100,000 for a promotion and you get about S$10k every month for the rest of your life after retirement, good investment heh.

The numerous amount of cases will give the "famous mouths" enough material to talk about for a few years I think. Lucky them Taiwan has so many problems, I wonder if they are really angry when they are scolding cause they are actually earning money while scolding. Do they try to create trouble when there is no trouble so that they can argue about it? I don't know he he.

And now finally to the title of this post. Last week Jackie Chan said this ...
BOAO, China — Action star Jackie Chan said Saturday he's not sure if a free society is a good thing for China and that he's starting to think "we Chinese need to be controlled."

Chan's comments drew applause from a predominantly Chinese audience of business leaders in China's southern island province of Hainan.

The 55-year-old Hong Kong actor was participating in a panel at the annual Boao Forum when he was asked to discuss censorship and restrictions on filmmakers in China. He expanded his comments to include society.

"I'm not sure if it's good to have freedom or not," Chan said. "I'm really confused now. If you're too free, you're like the way Hong Kong is now. It's very chaotic. Taiwan is also chaotic."

Chan added: "I'm gradually beginning to feel that we Chinese need to be controlled. If we're not being controlled, we'll just do what we want."

This week, the talk shows responded to his comments. They were all very angry and condemned his comments, defending the democracy of Taiwan, on the "Scold Jackie Chan" section of the show. The funny thing is, after all the Taiwan defending, they then proceeded to their daily routine of scolding all the bad things that happened in Taiwan, and there are so many things for them to scold. Freedom of scolding!

To make matters worse, this happened in Taiwan (whom I consider the "freeiest" Chinese nation) a day after the Jackie Chan bashing ...

Opposition Democratic Progressive Party Lawmaker Chiu Yi-ying slapped her male colleague Lee Ching-hua from the ruling Kuomintang yesterday for insulting her family.

Lee was speaking at the lectern during an Internal Administration Committee session discussing relations with China when Chiu made loud remarks. Lee accused her of not having been well educated by her parents.

Chiu rose to approach the lectern and spar with Lee, who challenged her to hit him. When Lee faced his fellow lawmakers complaining about her and reportedly using insulting remarks, Chiu approached him from behind and slapped him on the left cheek, cable stations showed.

Lee accused the DPP of being a violent party, leading to a mass of lawmakers from both parties surging to keep their two colleagues apart. The committee meeting was adjourned.

I know you want to see the video! I found it on Youtube! This female legislator, Chiu Yi-ying (邱議瑩) also pointed a middle finger at her colleagues recently. I found the video too! Now for the videos ...

Chiu Yi-ying Slaps Lee Ching-hua (with a little stephen chow touch)

Chiu Yi-ying points middle finger and denies it despite having video evidence, plus more slapping.

She is actually quite good looking. Too bad she has a bad temper. Like My Sassy Girl? Chili padi heh. Jackie Chan must be laughing at his villa while watching this. A slap in the face for Taiwan? Wahaha (I applaud myself for thinking of this).

Jackie Chan has responded to the complains, stating that he was talking about the Chinese media industry and not Chinese in general that needs to be controlled. Less talk shows and Chinese "Gou Zai Dui (狗仔隊)" /Paparazzi? Edison and friends would not have gotten into such deep shit without them. Do I think Jackie Chan is right? Honestly speaking, I don't care lol. I just made this post primarily to show the cute slapping video which made reference to a Stephen Chow's movie he he. It will be great if we had those Taiwanese type of talk shows in Singapore though. The Complain Show or like how we pronounce in Singapore, The Comprain Show!!! (Don't think it will be approved because we don't have freedom of speech right ha ha)

American Idol Predictions: Who will be out in the top 7 part 2

Last week Matt Giraud was saved by the judges so we still have 7 contestants this week. However, 2 contestants are going home later today. Will Matt Giraud be safe this week? Or will the other contestants "safe" him?

This week's theme is disco, but not many of the contestants sang upbeat songs which kind of disappointed me. It seems like everyone wants to be Adam Lambert, all trying to be special and make a disco song slow heh. No one can surpass him though. Adam Lambert is definitely going to become the American Idol this season, unless something dramatic happens.

Because this week's show was rather boring, I realized I was more interested with some other things that happened during the show rather than the contestants singing. I'm not sure if I've seen Danny Gokey's sisters in the show before, but I just realized how hot they are. I also noticed that when they are showing Adam's supporters, the caption was "Adam's Family", you know like the movie The Addams Family? The Addams Family snap snap ... Lol! Adam Lambert's fans can call themselves "The Adam's Famly"! Hey, it sounds better than claymates right? Allison Iraheta also did her usual "before the break" funny routine, this time with Danny Gokey. She looks so funny with his specs on lol. The Allison funny routine has been a lucky charm for contestants. Those paired with her will always be safe which means this week Allison and Danny will stay in the competition. Who will join them in the safety seat?

Lets see last week's idol iTunes ranking ...

1) (1) Adam Lambert - 964 ratings / 254 review (avg 4.5 stars)
2) (6) Kris Allen - 926 rating / 189 reviews (avg 4.5 stars)
3) (2) Allison Iraheta - 339 ratings / 75 reviews (avg 4.5 stars)
4) (4) Matt Giraud - 316 ratings / 96 reviews (avg 4.5 stars)
5) (3) Danny Gokey - 296 ratings / 69 reviews (avg 4 stars)
6) (5) Anoop Desai - 251 ratings / 84 reviews (avg 4.5 stars)
7) (7) Lil Rounds - 160 ratings / 49 reviews (avg 2.5 stars)

The ranking is pretty much the same except for Kris Allen's usual yo-yoing around. One week's he's hot another he's not! Luckily for him, this week he's hot and together with his great performance will guarantee his passage into the top 5. Seems like Danny Gokey is getting a little boring and has dropped to 5th spot, he should be safe this week though. I think it's quite obvious that the 3 contestants who are in danger are Matt Giraud, Anoop Desai and Lil Rounds if you base it on their performance and rankings. They were all also in the bottom 3.

Matt Giraud is becoming more like a Justin Timberlake wannabe, Lil Rounds is at her usual unoriginal self and Anoop had a very bad last note. These 3 contestants I think will all be out by next week, but I wonder which 2 will go out this week. Last week I was choosing between Matt and Anoop to go out and flipped a coin to decide. The coin made me choose the wrong guy so this week I will make a guess base on my gut feeling heh. Hey gut, who will be out this week?

Okay, my gut tells me that the 2 guys will go home this week and Lil Rounds will survive and sing "Survivor" by Destiny's Child if it is allowed in next week's theme. However, she will still be out heh.

So final prediction: Matt Giraud and Anoop Desai to hold hands and go home this week.

2 "New" Animes: Dragon Ball Kai & Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood

Recently, there were 2 "new" animes that started airing in Japan - Dragon Ball Kai & Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood. Why the inverted commas? It's because both animes are not totally new. One is a remastered, edited version of its previous self and one is a remake.

Dragon Ball Kai
Toei Animation has confirmed that this spring's Dragon Ball Kai re-airing of its Dragon Ball Z anime will be edited to more closely follow Akira Toriyama's original manga. The Dragon Ball Z anime series originally ran from April 1989 to January 1996 in Japan. However, since Toriyama was still serializing his manga at the same time in shorter weekly installments, the Dragon Ball Z anime expanded its story by inserting additional content. The new Dragon Ball Kai remastering will be an "Akira Toriyama original cut edition" that will quicken the story presentation and adhere more with the manga's story.

The anime footage will be enhanced with the latest digital technology. This includes a new full-HD remastering from the film reels of the original run, renewed soundtracks and sound effects, and new dialogue recordings with most of the original cast. The re-airing will launch in Japan on April 5.
Source: Toei Confirms Dragon Ball Kai is Edited to Follow Manga

So basically, this is an edited version of the old Dragon Ball Z hence the name Dragon Ball Kai. Although I can't read Japanese the "kai" word is also a Chinese word, and it means change or in this case, edit. It is shortened to follow the manga, which means it will definitely be more exciting! It also has new soundtracks, dialogue recordings, sound effects and it is now in HD format!!!

Dragon Ball Z in widescreen 16:9 HD format!!

When I was in primary school, I was a fan of Dragon Ball, but back then I could only read the Dragon Ball comics as there were no airings of Dragon Ball in Singapore. Unfortunately, when I was young, we did not have internet and there were no such thing as fansubs. I was so desperate to watch Dragon Ball in action that I rented dragon ball specials from a video shop in Takashimaya (closed down liao). There were no subtitles for the videos but I still watched finished all the videos without understanding a word they say lol. I think I did that for Ranma too. When I was in secondary school, at least there were videos with Chinese subtitles which made watching animes a more pleasant experience. Now of course you have tons of fansubbers (God's gift to non-Japanese anime and drama lovers) who sub all sorts of animes ..... lucky us now =)

So, for all those of you who like me, have suffered in the past, and did not get a chance to enjoy the full glory of the entire Dragon Ball Z series, now is the chance to start from the very first episode of the series and continue watching it once a week, every week! In widescreen HD format! Those who watched Dragon Ball Evolution and became interested in Dragon Ball, you can start watching Dragon Ball Kai too! Too bad they started from Dragon Ball Z and not from Dragon Ball (when Goku was a kid). There are some recaps at the beginning and you can watch how Goku and others get their super saiyan powers eventually though.

Dragon Ball Kai Opening and Ending Theme

The animation scenes of the opening and ending songs looks great but when they go into the actual story, the animation looks a little dated despite the remastering efforts. However, I still love it and the action scenes will always keep me excited. Kame hame ha!! The animation will get better in future episodes. If only they remade the whole Dragon Ball Z series like Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood than it will be awesome!

Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood
In this world, there exist people with special abilities to manipulate objects and transform one object into another. These people are known as alchemists. This process does come with a cost though, the basic law of alchemy states that to gain something you have to sacrifice something of the same value.

The main character is the famous alchemist Edward Elric - also known as the Fullmetal Alchemist - who almost lost his little brother, Alphonse, in an accident. Edward managed to contain his brother's soul in a large suit of armor. While he did manage to save his brother's life, he had to pay a great price himself.

To get back what they've lost, the brothers embark on a journey to find the Philosophers Stone that is said to amplify the powers of an alchemist enormously.

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is a re-telling of the story from the manga point of view.
Source: Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood

For those who have watched the original Fullmetal Alchemist, this version is actually a remake of the original one but follows the storyline of the Fullmetal Alchemist manga instead. From what I've heard (did not read the comic), the original's story in the later part is somewhat different from the manga. I was a fan of the original Fullmetal Alchemist and watched every episode and movies of it. The first few episodes of the "new" series are similar to the original one and I felt like I have seen it all before. Maybe I should wait for a few months till there is a difference in storyline before continuing to watch this. However if you have not watched Fullmetal Alchemist before, you can watch this version instead.

I really enjoyed watching the first version of Full Metal Alchemist. It is an action packed, funny and violent? anime and the protagonist is a short guy like me! He always get made fun of in the show, like me in real life, but too bad I do not know alchemy nor do I have a metal arm and leg like Edward ...

Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood Opening and Ending Theme

Despite them not being "brand new" animes, I am still pretty excited with them. If you are fans of Dragon Ball and Full Metal Alchemist go watch them. If you somehow did not watch or even heard of these animes before (how is that possible!?!?) watch them now!!! I'm sure you won't be disappointed. =)

P.S: Dragon Ball Evolution sucks.

Who is the deadliest warrior? Samurai vs Viking

All Deadliest Warrior Posts

Ever wondered what will happen if your favorite warrior fight against another warrior from a different land and era? Apache vs Gladiator? Samurai vs Viking? Instead of arguing who is better than the other based on historical facts or challenging your friend to a round of Soulcalibur, you can watch Deadliest Warrior! It is a new tv series which started last week.

About the show
Each week on Deadliest Warrior, a new episode will pit two of the most feared warriors civilization has ever known against each other. Along with the use of 21st century science and the latest in CGI technology, each episode enlists warrior-specific world-class fighters and experts to provide insight into what makes these combatants tick, analyzing every facet of their unique skills of destruction, culminating in a head-to-head final fight between two legends of the battlefield that will produce the deadliest warrior.

The people in the show will analyze the weapons used by the warriors CSI/fight science style, testing the weapons on things like mock human bodies, and pigs and cows. The data will be then be inputted into a computer to simulate 1000 battles between the 2 warriors. A scene of an "actual" fight will then be shown. Besides your historical warriors, I noticed people with guns in the opening clip too? US marine versus Italian mafia anyone?

I have watched the first 2 episodes and really enjoyed both of them. Lots of thrash talking between the "experts" in the show, all fighting for their cause. No matter what the results are, there are sure to be unhappy supporters ... you can see lots of bitching at the website. You can join in the debate too if you like heh. The show can't please everyone right? Unless they make it a draw every match? Just relax and enjoy how the ancient weapons are used in the show.

Last week (first episode) we had the Apache versus the Gladiator. This week's episode is the battle between the Samurai and the Viking. Want to know who won? Check out spike's website to watch the entire episode for free! If you like the show, new episodes will be shown every week! Not sure if you can view past episodes though, from what I've seen, you can only watch the current episode, but I'm sure with some googling you will be able to find the previous episodes ;)

American Idol Predictions: Who will be out in the top 7

This week, due to time constraints, they only allowed 2 judges to comment for each performance which I think is quite unfair. Those who don't have to listen to Simon might have a slight advantage heh. Adam once again proved that he is the next American Idol (I think I can copy and paste this sentence every week). I think they can compile all the recordings of his performances and come out with an album which will easily sell millions. Other than Adam, I don't think there are other outstanding performances. I think currently, the only 2 idols I look forward to seeing every week are Adam Lambert and Allison Iraheta.

How did the idols fare last week on iTunes?

American Idol: iTunes Top 10 Chart (the numbers in bracket are the positions they were in last week)

1) (1) Adam Lambert - 2975 ratings / 540 review (avg 4.5 stars)
2) (5) Allison Iraheta - 486 ratings / 89 reviews (avg 4.5 stars)
3) (3) Danny Gokey - 293 ratings / 63 reviews (avg 4 stars)
4) (4) Matt Giraud - 289 ratings / 54 reviews (avg 4.5 stars)
5) (6) Anoop Desai - 276 ratings / 85 reviews (avg 4.5 stars)
7) (2) Kris Allen - 161 rating / 34 reviews (avg 4 stars)
8) (8) Lil Rounds - 109 ratings / 25 reviews (avg 3 stars)

As usual, Adam is at the top and Lil at the bottom. But for Lil, I think the iTunes ranking don't matter much as seen on previous weeks. Allison is back to number 2 (go Allison!). Danny and Matt are seating safely on the 3rd and 4th spot respectively. Wow (I used it again for Kris lol), seems like not many people like Kris's last performance, he dropped from 2nd to 7th! He is like a yoyo. I think he will be safe this week, but more bad performances from him and it will be the end of the road for him.

This week the only safe contestants I think are the top 3 in the iTunes ranking, Adam Lambert, Allison Iraheta and Danny Gokey. Lil Rounds might still be safe as she was in the bottom 3 last week and her fans will work extra hard to vote for her. Too little female contestants left in the competition for one to be out this week too.

So the 3 contestants who are I think are in danger of going home are Matt Giraud, Kris Allen and Anoop Desai. Based on the iTunes ranking Kris is in danger, but after surfing around and looking at some polls he seems too popular to be out this week. All his female fans will definitely make lots of calls. The bad comments the Randy made will surely make his fans work extra hard. So it's now narrowed to Matt Giraud and Anoop Desai. Coincidentally, both guys sang songs by Bryan Adams and received comments from the Randy and Kara ha ha. Matt was on the receiving end worse comments from the judges but Anoop is lower in the iTunes Ranking. Damn it's a tough choice!. Okay I'm going to flip a coin now, heads for Anoop, tails for Matt ......................... okay done.

Anoop Desai will be going home this week.

S Drama: Fighting Spiders (Great Local Drama!)

(If you missed episodes of Fighting Spiders, find out how to watch them online here.)

After watching so many commercials of Red Thread and Fighting Spiders on channel 5 I felt obligated to watch at least one of the shows he he. I decided to watch Fighting Spiders, which seemed like an interesting and funny show. Luckily I decided to watch Fighting Spiders sia. From what I have seen from the first episode, I think it will be a very good drama! Must support local production if its good .... Fighting Spiders I think will be worth watching. It might be the best channel 5 local drama, surely better than Masters of the Sea!

What is Fighting Spiders About
Set in post 60’s Singapore, in rustic kampongs, and the colorful chaotic streets of Chinatown, FIGHTING SPIDERS is a coming of age, adventure, story of three boys – Soon Lee (Edwin Goh), Charlie (Liang Shijie Jason) and Peter (Frederick Fielding), whose friendship is tested when they go to Malaysia on a quest to find and return with the King Spider, so as to challenge their nemesis, and bully, Ah Huat.

Every episode follows an adventure of the boys in the world of flying kites, fighting fishes, fighting spiders, first love and crushes, teenage lusts, and rebellion.

We also follow the story of amateur boxer, 21 year old, Tony Lee (Andie Chen), the elder brother of Soon Lee, when he joins a Chinatown gang so he could support a sick mother. His integrity as a role model to his brother, and filial piety to his mother, is compromised when he’s forced to participate in brutal gang activities.

He falls in love with a beautiful cellist, Annie (Ezann Lee) but several twists of circumstance leads Tony to a beautiful prostitute, Susie (Rebecca Lim), who works in the red light Keong Saik Street in Chinatown.

Before i watched the first episode, I did not go to the Fighting Spiders website, so I did not know exactly what the show is about. I thought the small boy Soon Lee grows up to be the character played by Andie Chen and was wondering what happened to Soon Lee's friends, Charlie and Peter. Now I know that the character that Andie Chen is playing is Soon Lee's brother and the main characters are the 3 boys he he ... sorry I blur. But the Soon Lee really looks like his brother in the show, I thought its him!

Ahh so now I know, the main characters in the show are the 3 boys and the show is about their quest to get the best fighting spider hence the name "Fighting Spiders". I always thought that its because Soon Lee grew up to be a fighter that's why they the show is called Fighting Spiders lol. Anyways, since Soon Lee does not grow up to by Andie, we also have Andie's story to follow in the show. The quest for finding the ultimate fighting spider and the gangster and love life of Soon Lee's brother Andie will be interesting to follow. Since the show is set in the 1960s, there are no such things as computer games and kids then played games like hopscotch, five stones and of course fighting spiders. I remember when I was in primary school, I played play hopscotch and ermm five stones too. I also played with marbles, erasers and Tamiya cars and some other games lol. The marbles must got so many different kind, earsers I bought the whole box of "Country Erasers" to play with my friends, the loser must give the winner their eraser lol. My favorite eraser is of course the Singapore eraser lol.

If you want to know more about the 60s and how the kids survive without your PS3, Wiis, PSP, DS etc you can go to the Fighting Spider Website. Quite a lot of info there. The website also has all the character bios and even has a character map (like the Japanese dramas)!

Characters
Lee Soon Lee (One of the 3 boys on a quest to find the King Spider) - played by Edwin Goh
Charlie Leong (Same as Soon Lee) - played by Liang Shijie Jason
Peter Livingston (Same as Soon Lee) - played by Frederick Fielding
Tony Lee (Soon Lee's Brother, amateur boxer, gang member) - played by Andie Chen
Thomas Livingston (Peter's strict father) - played by Bobby Tonelli
Mabel Lee (Soon Lee and Tony's mother) - played by Janice Koh
Annie Tan (Beautiful classy girl Tony likes) - played by Ezann Lee (my ex classmate!)
Sherry Tan (Annie's sister) - played by Sue Tan
Ah huat (The Big Bully) - played by Ethan Chia
Susie Woon (Stunning Prostitute who falls in love with Tony) - played by Rebecca Lim
Grandma (Charlie's Grandmother)
Sam the Tomboy (Pretty Tomboy in Malaysia) - played by Siona Wu-Murphy
Yiling (Medicine Girl Soon Lee likes) - played by Kimberly Chia
Simon Teo (Loves Annie) - played by Timothy Nga

For those who missed the first episode, here are the highlights from my rather lousy memory he he ......

1) Charlie and Soon Lee kenna bully by Ah Huat (who is actually charlie's cousin), then Peter who is an ang mo (yes they used that term in the show) come and rescue them with his slingshot. Peter whose father warned him not to befriend the local boys (he thinks they are bad influence), became friends with Charlie and Soon Lee

2) Soon Lee's family is very poor and his mother works very hard to support them. Soon Lee's brother Tony also helps with the finances by boxing and working as a coffee shop assistant. Soon Lee's mother worked so hard that she fell sick, but continued working after taking her medicine.3) Ah Huat brought his gang to take revenge on the 3 boys. Ah Huat took Soon Lee's fighting fish and warrior fighting spider and broke the slingshot which Peter gave Soon Lee. Ah huat use Soon Lee's warrior spider (who has won 10 fights) to fight with other small boys spiders. His stolen spider wins and he gets free money from the small boys.

4) Soon Lee likes the The medicine shop owner's daughter Yiling and is too shy to talk to her at first, asking Charlie to find out her name. He got braver later in the show and wanted to gave her a Ice Kachang Bomb thingy (pai seh dunno what is that called), but the Ice Kachang thingy melted in his hands when he was about to pass it to her and the it dripped to the medicine she was preparing. Yiling father was pissed and chased Soon Lee out of the shop.

5) The 3 boys saw a super hot kampung woman and followed her. Soon Lee and Peter managed to climb up a tree and could see the hot kampung woman taking out her clothes (I thnk to bathe). Charlie said one day he wants to see the kampung woman's neh neh! He was trying to get up the tree but could not. He ended up accidently pulling Peter and Soon Lee down the tree just when the Kampung Woman's neh neh pok is coming off! Wasted ha ha. Yes, they used the terms neh neh which stands for breasts in case you didn't know and neh neh pok (bra) lol. Power lah! Thats one of the reasons why I like this show =p They should have used that scene in the commercial lol.

6) Soon Lee's brother Tony, got bullied by a rich tai tai in the coffee shop. He eventually got so angry with rich people he joined a Chinatown gang.

7) Soon Lee made a $100 bet with Ah Huat that he can find another spider that can beat the warrior spider Ah Huat stole from him. A satay man at a pasar malam tells the 3 boys that in Johor Bahru there is a king of spiders that is very powerful and can easily beat the warrior spider Ah Huat stole from Soon Lee. So the 3 boys decided to go on an adventure to find the ultimate Fighting Spider!

Okay, thats all I can remember. Can't wait to see how the boys get the Raja Labah Labah (King of Spiders)!! Tony's story with the Chinatown gang and the love triangle between him, a high class girl and a prostitute seems interesting too. People reading this post ... remember to watch Fighting Spiders next week! If you have HD5, watch it on that channel instead! The show is available in HD, super clear without the top and bottom black bars!! When is channel 8 switching to HD sia, it would be nice if future channel 8 dramas are in HD format. Support Local if local is good!

Remember its on every Tuesday 8.30pm!

J-Drama: Mei-chan No Shitsuji メイちゃんの執事

Last week, when I was studying for my exams, I watched this drama, "Mei-chan No Shitsuji" during my self imposed breaks from studying. It's important to have some breaks in between studying as you can't absorb much after a certain period. For me, I feel that the longest I can last without having any breaks while studying is around 1 hour. After that, nothing can go in to my old brain unless a "last minute desperation mode" is activated heh. Somehow, my brain can increase its power when there is very little time left to study. This always happens every time I study for exams due to the long and frequent breaks I take ha ha.

Ooops, I almost forgot, the title of this post is about the J Drama Mei-chan No Shitsuji. Okay back to this drama I watched last week. This drama helped me release some stress during my battle with forcing information into my head. Although the story is based on a girl's comic of the same name, I actually enjoyed it. I think other guys will like it too. Girls will surely like this drama.

What is this drama about?
This drama is a romantic comedy about a poor girl who suddenly found out that she is rich and entered a school full of rich girls. Everyone in the school, believe or not, has their own personal super handsome butler who will always be with them, cooking for them, carrying them, messaging them etc etc. All butlers have different ranks according to their abilities and erm maybe looks? Not sure about that cause I felt that some of the lower ranked butlers are more handsome than the higher ranked ones lol. So the poor girl (Mei-chan) has to learn how to fit in with those spoilt rich girls and yes, Mei-chan has her very own butler and he happens to be the best one which made all the girls jealous he he. I shall not give any more spoilers for those who want to watch the drama.

Why girls will like this?
Erm, no need to explain right? Every girl has their own butler who will do anything their masters say. Which girl wouldn't like that? If it's the other way round i would be sooooo happy. ^^

Some of the butlers.

Mei-chan's S-ranked butler, Shibata Rihito (Mizushima Hiro). This guy also acted in Gokusen 2 and Zettai Kareshi, 2 J dramas I enjoyed watching.

Mei's best friend Shibata Kento (Sato Takeu)

Fujiko (Nakabeppu Aoi) and her butler Nezu (Kyo Nobuo)

Rika (Oomasa Aya) and her butler Aoyama (Mayama Akihiro)

There are other butlers with different styles which will surely match your taste.

Why guys will like that?
Although there is a lot of focus on the butlers in the show, their masters are mostly very pretty. There are quite a few girls I like in the show he he.

First of all, I like the main character of the show - Mei-chan or Shinonome Mei (Eikura Nana).

She looks so cute in the uniform. I like her hairstyle. She really looks like a comic character.

There are also other beautiful and cute girls in the show. Some masters, some Mei-chan's friends.

Izumi (Iwasa Mayuko). So cool and cute at the same time.

Your typical Japanese School girl. Rin (Kutsuna Shiori)

Mei's ex classmate and good friend Natsumi (Hoshii Nanase) .. She is the cutest!

Natsumi's sister Mifuyu (Kitagawa Hiromi) who is always very happy when one of the butlers visit their house.

Theme Song (Ending of each episode)

For those who have watched Seigi No Mikata, Yamada Yu and Mukai Osamu are also acting (as a couple again) in this drama. The talented cute little girl who can really act, Yoshida Riko from Oh! My Girl!! is also in the show!

If you have not watched this drama, and like romantic comedies with lots of handsome guys and pretty girls watch it now! If you have not watched Japanese Dramas before, you can start with this and maybe next week I will recommend other J Dramas I have watched recently. To watch this drama, you can either purchase it from your nearest video shop, online stores or maybe you have your own methods of watching ;)

P.S. Gran Torino is a really good movie. Don't be put off by an old Clint Eastwood on the poster. Old men can be heroes too! Although a little racist, my classmates and I really liked the movie. We watched it because it was the only show on at that moment and we're glad we watched it.

Started watching Harper's Island, which is good so far. I should be watching the next episode next week ... I want to know who the killer is!

Finally got a point

Newcastle united finally got a point today!! I hope this will boost their confidence and get at least a point against spurs next week and 9 points from their last 3 home games. I actually made a bet on newcastle to win today to show my support. Although they did not win, I'm still a happy man.

I hope Alan Shearer plays Andy Carrol instead of Ameobi for all the matches. Ameobi is useless! I wonder why managers like to use him :(

Please survive Newcastle, I want to watch you play on Tv regularly next season! Will definitely visit St James Park at least once in my lifetime.

American Idol Predictions: Who will be out in the top 8

Yay! Finally .... After many days of studying, drinking coffee, dozing off, drinking extra strong coffee, dozing off, eating sweets, dozing off, extra smoking, studying and very little sleep .... I have finally finished all my papers!! I also finished watching the very nice mei-chan no shitsuji and quite a lot of celebrity apprentice 2 (which I like a lot by the way).

Okay enough about my studying, its that time of the week again ... Idol prediction time! There were quite a lot of good performances today. I really liked the performances from Adam Lambert, Allison Iraheta and Matt Giraud. The 3 of them should be safe today despite Allison and Matt being in the bottom 3 last week. It's too early for either of them to go home. if unfortunately one of them gets the lowest number of votes, I think the judges safe will be used.

Lets see the iTunes ranking before I carry on with my prediction

American Idol: iTunes Top 10 Chart (the numbers in bracket are the positions they were in last week)

1) (1) Adam Lambert - 977 ratings / 233 review (avg 4.5 stars)
2) (6) Kris Allen - 743 rating / 111 reviews (avg 4.5 stars)
3) (3) Danny Gokey - 670 ratings / 162 reviews (avg 4.5 stars)
4) (4) Matt Giraud - 370 ratings / 102 reviews (avg 4.5 stars)
5) (2) Allison Iraheta - 251 ratings / 74 reviews (avg 4.5 stars)
6) (7) Anoop Desai - 187 ratings / 61 reviews (avg 4 stars)
7) (8) Scott Macintyre - 175 ratings / 62 reviews (avg 3.5 stars)
8) (9) Lil Rounds - 98 ratings / 26 reviews (avg 3.5 stars)

Wow seems like Kris Allen is getting very popular, he has jumped from number 6 to 2. Too bad Allison's dropped from 5 to 2, I hope she won't be in danger again this week. She does not deserve to go home so early. Scott and Lil have been occupying the bottom 2 for a long time, but it seems like the both of them have been rather safe, except for that one time when Scott was in the bottom 3. Adam Lambert will definitely be the next American Idol, no need to wait till the finals for me to predict that. If Simon gives you a standing ovation, I think you will definitely stand a high chance of winning. Even if he doesn't win, he will get a recording deal for sure.

Let me skip the whole splitting them into 2 groups thing and just announce who I think will be out this week. (Okay I'm getting a little lazy... heh)

There is a possibility that Lil Rounds will go home, but I think it won't happen since there are only 2 girls left. So there is only one other choice I could make base on this week's performance and the popularity factor. The person who will be going home this week is Scott Macintyre. Sorry but I think your performance this week is not good enough and you are not as popular as Kris who did quite badly this week too.

I was pretty close last week, correctly predicting the bottom 2 but chose the Anoop to go home instead of Megan. Will I be correct this week?

This week's predictions

The safe group (based on alphabetical order)

1) Adam Lambert - No brainer

3) Danny Gokey - Same as Allison
4) Kris Allen - Best performance of the night
5) Lil Rounds - Too early for her to go home
6) Matt Giraud - Not a great performance but his fans will work hard today due to last week's shocker
7) Scott Macintyre - Judges love him today

The In Danger Group

1) Anoop Desai - Usher song with no Usher moves?
2) Megan Joy Corkey - Another bad performance

So based on the iTunes Reviews Ranking, My prediction is Anoop Desai will be out later today.

Will I be right again? Lets find out ...... after the break.

OMG! Alan Shearer is back at Newcastle!! (Not April Fool's joke)

Premier League strugglers Newcastle United haved appointed Alan Shearer in a managerial capacity for the remainder of the season.

Shear Sensation

Alan Shearer Confirmed As Newcastle United Manager Until The End Of The Season

(I checked, double checked and triple checked to make sure it's true. With so many websites reporting the same thing, surely it won't be a coordinated April Fool's joke??)

Yahoo!! Alan shearer is back!! I hope he can save Newcastle United from the drop this season and continue managing us the next season. Really miss my hero Alan Shearer, the greatest striker in the EPL!! Heyyyyyy Alan Shearer hoooo haaaaa, I want to knowwwwwwwww how you score that goal!!!! (You always here this when he scores a goal for Newcatle last time ha ha).

Since he is not under contract as a player maybe he can play for us again he he. Maybe a super sub, player manager? Oh my god, I'm so happy now. My morale is very high now, will study extra hard now!!

Studying Time!

It's that time of the year again. The time when people sleep lesser hours than usual. The time when people eat more or less than usual (depending on your personality). The time when everyone gets PMS (yes, even guys). The time when you take out your lecture notes which you not even read before. The time when you suddenly become superstitious and try to use all kinds of supernatural forces to help you. The time when Starbucks' and Nescafe's sales shoot up. The time when libraries, airports and fast food restaurants become overcrowded. The time when any show you watch or game you play seems like the best you've came across. The time when you wished you had the remote control from "Click" and can fast forward the process. The time you wish you were working instead of studying.

My exams starts this week ...... weeeeeeeeeee .....

Starting from tomorrow I will follow my standard exam preparation routine of writing notes, eating more than usual, staring at my notes, spinning around on my chair, talking to myself and having breaks in between watching a Japanese or American TV show. This time round, the show I will be watching is a J Drama called Mei-Chan no Shitsuji, recommended by my friend Monica. Actually, I have already watched 2 episodes and I like it a lot. Lots of cute girls (and guys if you are a girl) in the show he he. I will write more about the show next time, after my exams. This semester's examination will be my second last one. After this, one more to go and it's working time! Don't worry, I will still make my very accurate American Idol predictions later after I watch the top 9 perform. =)

Lets GO! G ... O .... Go! Fightoooo onz!!!
