Best study aid ever !

Was too excited with American Idol yesterday that I forgot to mention about effective the mindwave study aid was. When I started studying on Wednesday night, I couldn't concentrate so I decided to try out the study aid function on mindwave. Don't know if it's a psychological thing or something but once I played the tone, after a minute or 2, I got into the studying mood. The background sounds made me feel as if I was studying next to a waterfall, with no distractions, very peaceful indeed. Like those scholars in the olden days he he.

Not sure if the program really makes your memory better, but it definitely will make you concentrate better .. With my iPhones and a good pair of earphones I think I can study in any environment. As for yesterday's exam, I think I did quite well .. I could answer almost everything. Maybe mindwave helped my memory a little ... Was able to recall most of the things I studied.

I can't prove that mindwave made me remember things better, but it definitely helped me concentrate better. Highly recommended for people who can't get themselves to focus when studying.

BlogPress now only $1.99!

Was surfing the app store just now and found out that BlogPress is now only $1.99 for a limted time! Its usual price was $9.99, which which made me reluctant to try it. But now that its $1.99 I clicked on the "buy now" button straight away!

The reason why this blogging app interest me Is that you can add pictures to your posts! Something which my previous blooging app iblogger couldn't do. I think blogPress has the most features of all the blogging apps ... Pictures, tags, auto saving drafts etc don't think i can add youtube vids though ... Can't copy and paste! Unless i jailbreak ....

This post is written entirely on BlogPress. Let me end it by trying the adding pictures function.

American Idol : Group 2 Predictions

Yay mid semester examination is over! Can rest my brain for a while. Only for awhile casue I have presentation on Monday and more assignments to hand in the the next few weeks wooo hooo.

Just watched the American Idol Group 2 performance a while ago and although it might be a little late, here are my weekly predictions on who will go through.

The show started with some not so inspiring performance from the first four contestants, the worse being the very lame performance from Nick Mitchell or better known as Norman Gentle ... I really hope he does not make it through although there would definitely be some jokers voting for him just for fun. Matt Giraud and Jasmine Murray were one of the first 4 contestants unfortunately. Don't think either of them will make it through this week. However, based on the judges comments, i think both of them stand a high chance of coming back for the wildcard round. Hope they get the chance and please choose a better song the both of you.

After Norman Gentle's joke of a performance, Allison Iraheta made the first decent performance of the night .. okay actually it was a great performance heh. She I think will be the top girl who will go through. Another girl who impressed me was Megan Joy Corkrey ... I thought with that fierce looking tattoo on her right hand she would be those rocker kind, but she is actually quite sweet. Not sure I liked her dance though he he.

For the guys side, there is no contest for the top male. It will definitely be Adam Lambert! His performance was great, even better than Danny Gokey! He was the last contestant too, always an advantage.

Assignments and Exams! Stress ah!

Oh man, these few days have been very tiring for the usually very free me. Have been doing my case study (due tom) and making notes for my exam (tom too!). Will be starting my super memorizing ritual soon maybe with the help of Mindwave, after that just vomit out everything I have studied during the paper tom. This is what most of us in Singapore do right he he.

Really hate studying for exams ... as you get older I think you brain memory capacity gets smaller and smaller and it gets really hard to learn new things. At this time and age where its so easy to get information, I wonder why we still have closed book exams. Whenever in doubt we just have to use our best friend Google to search for information we need. If you have a mobile phone which can access the internet, you can have limitless information wherever you go! They should scrap closed book examinations and have open book ones instead! Or better still, grade us only on assignments and projects! (People might cheat though so that might not be a good idea heh, the rich kids will just ace everything!)

Anyway if they eventually implement this system, I don't think I will get to enjoy it. After this paper I think I have around 4 - 5 more exams in my life to go!! After that its working life for me!

Okay time to study!!! Looking forward to American Idol tom!!

Fake DVDs, fake handbags, fake toys, fake handphones, fake food etc etc etc and now they even have fake star endorsements!!! China you never fail to surprise me.

Saw the news about the fake star endorsement on The New Paper today and went to find the video he he. The Japanese people pay millions only for a single Hollywood star to appear in an ad, and here you have an ad with 3 superstars!! And guess what ... the cost of getting David Beckham, Sean Connery and Keanu Reeves to star in the commercial is free! Its so easy!! Just take video footage of celebrities cut here and there, put in fake china man voice and subtitles and there you have it, the "USA Selikon" Viagra-styled pills commercial!!! The funnier thing is that the authorities have approved the broadcast in China.

Maybe in the future they should make a computer ad starring Bill Gates and Steve Jobs together praising the latest China Made Computer or maybe a Nike type advertisement with all the best soccer players in the World endorsing the latest Li Ning soccer boots he he. American Idol : Tatiana Will Be in the Top 12!

Not bad, I got 2 out of 3 correct, it was quite obvious Danny and Alexis were going through though heh. I can't believe Michael went through to the top 12 man. His performance wasn't that great, in fact it surely is worse than Tatiana whom I believe deserves to go through. Although she is a drama queen (as she showed again yesterday by crying non stop after the results are out), you got to admit her performance on Wednesday was one of the better ones, the camera also loves her, trying to capture all her drama mama crying moments he he.

Here is my bold prediction: Tatiana will make it to the wildcard stage where she will go through and reach at least the top 5!

Looking forward to group 2 next week, this only Danny Gokey was in my favs list, this week there are 3! The 3 contestants (click for my favs) I hope will go through are:

I wonder how many i will get right. Okay time to sleep man .. Its almost 6am! Zzzzz.

Nike Contest - My Nike Mini

Everyone who knows me know that I'm a cheapskate who loves good deals and freebies, so its no surprise that I love joining competitions especially those that are interesting. I recently joined Nuffnang and found this Nike contest celebrating Nike Women's new launch ... cool. Seems like this competition is not limited to girls so I guess I will have a crack at it. If the prize turns out to be something for girls, I will give it to my sister who will definitely love it! Jia Yi, if you are reading this, this is for you! (If the prize is Nike Women's products he he)

The competition requires me to take a screenshot of the Nike Mini I created and allows me to add decorate the background. I love using Photoshop for my school project visuals and this competition gives me a chance to showcase my amateurish self taught skills lol. I like girls who like pink things so I made my Nike Mini very "pinky" lol. Nice pink hair with pink shoes and a jacket with a touch of pink. Her name is Jiahui which is also my name (lucky my name can be guy or girl's name). Since I am currently trying to lose weight at the moment in time for my graduation, the exercise program I created is called "Project Graduation Exercise." I think I may have to follow the exercise program I created for this competition soon as my weight has not gone down this week after my special diet plan lol. Okay I admit I cheated a little and ate dinner on some days I'm not supposed to and only use the Mindwave program once. =P. I am so going to add exercising to my plan starting from next week. My American Idol Favorites at the moment

This season of American Idol is better than ever! I really enjoyed watching the talented singers sing their way through to the top 36. Although the usual really lousy singers who either were trying to be funny or really think they are good (oh my god!) are getting a little lame, the emotions captured when each contestant go through to the Hollywood rounds are further are priceless and always put a smile on my face and maybe a tear or two ... I really love seeing happy people especially those around me! Maybe that's what I love about American Idol, seeing normal people fulfilling their dreams. Don't think I have the same determination to chase my dreams as the contestants in the show so I might as well cheer for those who are trying so hard.

With the new judge Kara, i I think things are going to get more interesting on the live shows, more girls mean more disagreements with Simon! I think she is normally nice but sometimes mean, especially towards bikini girl who I feel is actually a nice girl inside? I loved the moment when she kissed Ryan Seacrest and they played "I kissed a girl" in the background ... Hilarious!

So now that the top 36 are revealed who are your favorites? While you are thinking, let me reveal to you my current favorites (Based on what American Idol wants me to see). For those who have not gotten as much air time as the others maybe I will support them after hearing more of their singing in the coming rounds. Who knows, maybe there might be another "make your hair stand" performance coming out of nowhere by one of these contestants, like David Cooke's rendition of Billy Jean and Blake Lewis's You Give Love a Bad Name. Really hope there would be one or more inspiring performances.

Okay enough of my crap, here are my favorites so far (in alphabetical order):

During the group rounds I was really impressed when he hit the high notes. This guy has a great voice and is good looking too, I'm sure he will have many fans.

My 15 min Dragonica Experience

Lol at the end I manged to play Dragonica for only 15 mins before the closed beta preview ended. Waited so long for the torrent to finish downloading. From my 15 min experience, I think it will be a good game and will defnitely try it out when the open beta is live. I like the cute graphics and the controls are good, easy to pick up, similar to maple story but in 3D. I prefer this type of game where you control the character's movement with the arrow keys and jump around like those hack and slash games rather than those which you click to move your character around.

As I only played for 15 min I only got myself to lvl 3 so only got 3 skills. As usual I played as a warrior. Managed to take a few pics for fun to post here.

So thats how I spent 15 mins of my time on Valentines day, what an interesting life I have huh. 1 hour more till the end of Valentines day ... yahooooooo!

By the way the instant satay from NTUC is very nice, taste as good or maybe even better than other satays I have tried. I bought the chicken one, the meat is very tender and the satay sauce is not spicy at all, just nice for me! If you like satays maybe you can buy a pack to try for yourself. I used the oven to cook the satays and the microwave for the satay sauce. Yummy!

Happy Valentines Day!!

Lonely me will stay at home during Valentines Day as usual. Hope you guys have a better day than me. Oh wait, if you are reading this post on Valentines Day, maybe you are as lonely as me heh. Lets keep ourselves busy playing watching TV and playing games or maybe blogging.

Thoughtful IAH has provided lonely souls out there to do this Valentines Day, they are having a closed beta preview of Dragonica!!

Okay I wasted around 10 mins of my time posting this 10 hours and 10 mins more till the end of Valentines Day!!

MindWave cured my headaches!

Yesterday I was stuck in my fathers car for more than an hour with no air condition turned on. Did not get out of the car as I'm actually allergic to the sun :( ... if you are in Singapore with no air com on in a car which is not moving, its hell! Because of this and maybe the rather irritating process of looking for floor plans an hour before I got quite a bad headache which even a few sticks of cigs could not cure actually maybe it made it worse lol.

After a while I suddenly thought of the mindwave app I blogged about a few days ago and tried my luck using the headache treatment function and guess what, it actually worked! Coincedently my mother also had a headache that night and immediately I passed her my iPhone with the mindWave app turned on and after around 10 mins she was sleeping soundly with the earphones still in her hears lol. This app really rocks!

I haven't tried the weightloss function yet by the way, been busy these few days ......... watching tv shows!!! So many of my favorite shows are back! Heroes, Chuck, American Idol, 30 Rock, My name is Earl .... they are all back again. Even Survivor is back! Now I just have to wait for the final season of Prison Break to show and my list of must watch tv shows every week is complete he he. Oh ya even Singapore Idol is coming back too, plus Street Fighter 4 coming out soon, Draconica (3d maple story?), Asian dramas etc etc ....... I'm so busyyyyyyy =P

P.S. I ate dinner again today lol ... I think I can't make Friday a no dinner day, its too tempting to eat when you go out and others are eating. So I guess only Monday to Thursday will be my fruits only dinner days unless I'm at home on Friday.

Woo hooo weighed myself yesterday and guess what I loss 500g!! If I didn't eat last Friday maybe I could have loss even more weight! If I can lose 500g every week I will be a very happy man. 5 Things I Like and dislike about Chinese New Year

The 15 days of Chinese New Year has ended, no more nice food, no more ang paos no more excuses for eating more food than you usually do or gambling more than usual. Although there are things that I like about Chinese New Year, there are certain things I don't like about it. Here is list of the top 5 things I like and dislike about Chinese New Year.

What I like about Chinese New Year

1) Receiving Ang Paos

Who wouldn't like free money. Even if the amount is big or small, its still free money. Best Ang Paos (most money) are always the ones from parents.

2) Eating Nice Food

Delicious Meals and snacks available everyday 24/7. My mother hardly cooks, so whenever she cooks in Chinese New Year, its a really special occasion. Her steamboats are the best! I also love eating the Ba Kwas my father buy every year.

3) Buying New Clothes

Chinese New Year is the only time of the year I buy new clothes lol. So its really a big thing for me. I'm sure everyone like this also as it gives them an excuse to buy something new. (Even my dog Kimi (above pic) has new clothes =D )

4) Visiting Relatives

If you have recently slimmed down, cut a new hairstyle, became more handsome or beautiful you would love to wear your new clothes to visit your relatives you see only once a year. Praises will be everywhere and you will feel like a superstar.

5) Gambling Time

No Chinese New Year gatherings will be complete without gambling! Be it Mahjong, Dai Dee, Black Jack, Texas Holdem, the young ones will use their newly acquired ang pao money to try to get more and the old one will try to win back their the ang pao money they have given away.

What I don't like about Chinese New Year

1) Trying To get the Ang Paos

At first its easy, just smile give 2 oranges (which your parents bought) and you receive free money. But after doing it again and again, your smile seems faker and more effort is needed in trying look surprised and happy when you receive the ang pao.

2) The after effects of Eating Good Food

Before you realize it, its too late, you have gained so much weight that it will take you around the whole year to lose it, just in time for the next Chinese New Year. When you are younger, the process of losing weight is much easier and faster but as you get older your uncle and auntie body mode kicks in which is much harder to maintain and you will not be able to lose enough weight in time for the next Chinese New Year, thus adding even more weight to the weight you gained. And the cycle continues ...

3) Realizing that the new clothes you bought ain't as nice as you thought

For people like me who only buy clothes once a year then it sucks cause I will have to either wear the sucky clothes or wear my old clothes for the whole year till the next New Year. Yes I still wear clothes out that I bought 10 years ago. (Kimi's clothes are nice though)

4) Visiting Relatives

If you are those who one way or another become less glam than your previous visit, relatives will sharpen their claws and attack you with mean words. Thats when you think if its worth it to make a trip for ang paos. If you have low self esteem its best not to go as some words may scar you for life.

5) Losing your ang pao money because of gambling

When you win you will feel shiok but when you lose then its shitty. You may lose all your ang pao money or even more, making your visits worthless (money wise). If you lose a lot better eat more snacks at the owner's house to recoup some losses. If its your house, good luck to you.

This is my list, okay my 5 likes are also my dislikes depending on the situation he he .. I'm sure others have their own lists of likes and dislikes, such as for married couple they will hate ang paos because they will have to give them instead of receiving them and maybe grandmothers would love gatherings to see all their children and grandchildren. Maybe in the future my list will change too.... Whats yours???

Wow he scored another dramatic goal today against Portsmouth. When I was watching the match, was kinda expecting him to score and yes he did score... the winning goal in the dying minutes as usual. Some people are just born to be heroes.
I'm not a Liverpool fan by the way but appreciate good players of other clubs and he is one of them. Good looks and good skills how not to like? No wonder El Nino (The Kid) gets so many advertisement deals.
